Every hour, one male senior adult age 85 or older commits suicide in the US.  Why?  How could this happen?  This is how the introductory session of this series began.  Values, Attitudes, Thoughts, emotions, Behaviors ... all have integral parts in why and how we do virtually everyting.

I ave never met anyone who, as a youngster, had purposed in his or her mind to grow up feeling like a miserable failure, unhappy, no enthusiasm, with no sense of joy or being loved and appreciated.  Wow ... I see this on the faces of countless people evey day.  Are these things permanent?  Is there any hope of changing dispositions toward life?  Oh yes, I say.

Many people are slipping toward years of unhappiness with little awareness of what is happening.  Over the next few weeks and months, we will look at several ingredients to making life work.  In this study, we will look at the first ingredient that sets us up for a life that we can live with (no pun intended) -- An Attitude of Optimism -- which is a key ingredient to seeing life differently.
