Naperville, IL – Brian Horner is a respected educator with a career spanning over a quarter of a century. He teaches in a gifted education program within District 203 in Naperville, Illinois. He is also the founder of Kid Innovation College which offers academic enrichment to students and is a consultant with the Institute for the Habits of Mind.
Founded in 2008, Kid Innovation College is an academic enrichment camp in the summer that offers advanced and thought-provoking courses that cater to the kindergarten through fifth grade students. Teachers at Kid Innovation College are not only encouraged to explore topics and courses that they have a passion about, but also intertwine important “thinking themes” within each course. These can be essential thinking behaviors such as persistence, empathy, or responding with wonderment and awe.
Brian describes his program as highly metacognitive, which means that he gets the students to think about thinking, which is one of the sixteen Habits of Mind, according to The Institute for Habits of Mind. On April 5th 2024, Brian had the opportunity to speak at the Habits of Mind Conference in Vista, CA, on the topic of Activating Metacognition in the Classroom.
As for the future, Brian plans to continue his teaching. A long-term goal that he holds is to eventually offer consulting to other school districts to help them incorporate the art of strategic thinking within their classrooms.

Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." www.dyslexiastuff.com I help parents and children who are affected by dyslexia. I'm Linda Colasanti, an everyday mom who has spent over a decade remediating students with dyslexia. It started with my oldest, who was misdiagnosed THREE TIMES before getting a correct identification. Being completely shocked that THREE highly reputable child psychologists misdiagnosed my son, I became trained in three different Orton-Gillingham curriculums, advocating and researching everything I could to help correct the lack of understanding around dyslexia. I took Special Ed Law courses, completed a year-long practicum, and became a certified dyslexia screener. I led Decoding Dyslexia North Carolina for six years, advocating at a national, state, and local level while helping to pass the first Dyslexia Law in North Carolina. All professionals (educators, child psychologists, and legislators) had failed to discover the cause of my son's reading struggles. I was determined to keep my children from slipping through the cracks. These circumstances lit a fire under my seat, and now I want to share what I've learned with you so you don't have to go through the trauma, stress, frustration, and countless hours of research. I hope you will let me guide you.

A former undergraduate tennis player, Kristina firmly believes that college athletics made her who she is today, teaching her life skills she still relies on. Out of a desire to protect that experience for future generations, she earned a J.D. from Marquette University Law School, speciaiizing in sports law. She interned with the NCAA and accepted a position after graduation in compliance for the Big Ten Conference. Kristina later joined the compliance offices of Rutgers University Athletics and Northwestern University’s Department of Athletics & Recreation.
Seeking an opportunity for a broader impact on multiple higher education institutions, Kristina joined the firm in 2024. She assists clients with athletics compliance reviews, NCAA infractions, student athlete relations, Title IX questions, and various hot topics in university athletics, such as NIL rules. Kristina loves supporting compliance offices like the ones where she launched her career and finds it immensely rewarding to help those still in the daily trenches of university athletics.
In addition to her university experience, Kristina has served on NCAA committees and been a part of conversations leading up to significant rule changes. She has a M.B.A from Rutgers Business School and holds numerous professional memeberships and certifiations.
