Episode 614 : Christian/Political commentary on the news and current events!!!
For the past nearly eight years, the Obama Administration has implemented one failed policy after the other on the American people. With over 93 million unemployed or underemployed, 48 million living on some sort of government assistance, radical Islamic terrorists on the loose, and the American Dream diminishing, the American people have gone thorugh a tough era in our nation. This administration has proven to be the most radical presidential administration in US history. Is January 20, 2017 really the end of the Obama Era? We the People hope so.
THE TALK OUR TIMES.
Some people are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway. If some of us are successful, we will win false friends but true enemies. Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. What you spend years building can be shot down overnight. Build anyway. Give the world the best you have and you might get kicked in the teeth for it. Give them your best anyway.

Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately? There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective. Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting. But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree! If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
Africa: Myths & Stereotypes
Join Alex Primo & Asha Zuri Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 9 pm eastern time, 6 o'clock on the west coast, as we examine the myths, lies, exaggerations and stereotypes about the people and lands of Africa. We will be dissecting everything from the size of the continent, to living conditions, to the fact that all Africans do not look alike. And yes, Africa is a continent and not a country. As a matter of fact, 54 different countries make up the land we now call Africa. Come with us as we take you on a journey to dispel lies and find facts.
"It's important to debunk the myths of Africa being this benighted continent civilized only when white people arrived. In fact, Africans had been creators of culture for thousands of years before. These were very intelligent, subtle and sophisticated people, with organized societies and great art."
~ Henry Louis Gates
"The last four or five hundred years of European contact with Africa produced a body of literature that presented Africa in a very bad light and Africans in very lurid terms. The reason for this had to do with the need to justify the slave trade and slavery."
~ Chinua Achebe
"Africa and its people are the most written about and the least understood of all of the world's people. This condition started in the 15th and the 16th centuries with the beginning of the slave trade system. The Europeans not only colonialized most of the world, they began to colonialize information about the world and its people."
~ John Henrik Clarke

This week we will continue our discussion of "enormities" (sinful behavior) in Islam. These will include:
The tale-bearer who stirs up enmity between people Loudly lamenting the dead Attacking another’s ancestry Excesses against others Considering Muslims unbelievers – takfir Hurting or reviling Muslims Harming the friends of Allah Dressing to show off Men forbidden to wear gold or silk Slaughtering meat in other than Allah’s name Women wearing false hair Falsely claiming someone is one’s father Believing that something portends bad luck Drinking from gold or silver vessels Arguing, quarrelling Cheating on weights and measurements Loss of hope Ingratitude Gambling Foregoing the Friday communal prayer
