Russian Jet Shot Down Over Syria By Turkey: Are We Nearing WWIII?

This is the first time a NATO country has bombed a Russian plane since the 50s. Also two Russian rescue helicopters were sent to get the surviving co pilot, the other pilot was killed by rebels after landing, and a Russian marine was killed on one of the helicopter from an attack by "Turkmen" in Syria. The co pilot over night was successfully rescued and is now in the Russian base in Syria. He has revealed there was no warning by Turkey before the attack on their jet. He says he wants to stay in Syria and continue his mission in honor of his fallen pilot. Did Turkey, who is a supporter of ISIS, do this on their own or did they have the backing of the US or NATO? How will Putin retaliate? Is Erdogan trying to bring a return of the Ottoman Empire? Already there is talk of a Russian strike on a Turkish convoy in Syria.
