Marilyn Campbell-Lowe is a published playwright, award winning actor, co-founder (w/Michael Halberstam) of the Writers’ Theatre in Glencoe, IL, and Board Member and Artistic Associate. Her co-adaptation of Crime and Punishment, w/Curt Columbus, is the recipient of a 2003 Joseph Jefferson Award, a 2009 L.A. Backstage Garland Award and a 2009 nomination from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle (“Best Adaptation”). Her play My Own Stranger (w/Linda Laundra, based on the writings of Anne Sexton) is currently being made into a film. In addition to playwriting, Ms. Campbell is an award winning actress and host of an award winning radio show on WFMT called The Feminist Lens. Linda was a co-founder of The Writers Theatre in New York City where she served as its Artistic Director for over 10 years. She directed numerous plays for the company and helped develop hundreds of others. Linda moved from stage to screen through Daytime Television where she was a Producer and Director for 12 continuous years, working for the 3 major networks. She was nominated for Emmy’s as a producer and a director. Her first show was GUIDING LIGHT then, ANOTHER WORLD and concluded her daytime life at ALL MY CHILDREN. Her first film, JEAN, based on the final chapter of Mark Twain’s autobiography, won several awards in the Festival Circuit. She is currently working on 3 screenplays, including her first feature film of the play MY OWN STRANGER, which she adapted with writing partner, Marilyn Campbell. She serves on the Directors Council of the Directors Guild of America, where she created and chaired the first long-standing women’s committee, Focus on Women.
