  • The Paulo Franco Interview

    in Indie Music

Paulo Franco is a Richmond, Virginia based bilingual singer/songwriter. He has opened for the likes of nationally touring singer/songwriters such as Chris Knight, Adam Carroll and Bloodshot Records artists Cory Branan and Austin Lucas. His music has been featured on radio stations XL102's Studio B, WRIR and WDCE in Richmond, WNRN and WTJU in Charlottesville, VA and WHRO in Hampton Roads, VA. He was also been featured on WTVR Channel 6's Virginia This Morning. In 2012, he was named a finalist in the Southeast region of the Mountain Stage NewSong songwriting contest. He was the only Virginia songwriter so selected in 2012. This year, Paulo releases his newest record, the Last Card.  No Depression Magazine called it "A Phenomenal Sophomore Record."  No Depression goes on to say, "Franco's sense of storytelling is an element that stands on its own.  [Leaving the River City] offers a heavy and eye-opening dose of what to expect on the record.  As Franco pens some of his most ambitious pieces to date, he eagerly backs them up, with a performance that is extraordinary and well rounded."
His music is a reflection of growing up a first generation American.  Although he was born and raised in the United States, Paulo's parents hail from Medellin, Colombia.  He grew up with American music, but the music of his parent's homeland was also a part of that soundtrack.  His Americana music is a blend of rock, old school country, alt-country and blues. The music draws heavily from influences like Steve Earle, Hank Williams, John Hiatt, Slaid Cleaves, Chris Knight, the Gram Parsons inspired music of the Rolling Stones, the Drive By Truckers and The Grateful Dead.

  • The Musician's Social Clubs Blog Talk Radio Show

    in Music

This is Leasa Rosolino of The Musician's Social Club.  I have been doing interveiws on Blog Talk Radio for years off and on.  I thought, why not create a show about my music and music interests.  I decided to take a break during the holiday season because everyone is busy with family and Christmas and such so I downgraded my service on blog talk radio and had time before the new payment cycle began to do another show.  I could do more shows in a week, but it would be too much for me because of my back issues, but I just wanted to show people my musical side and tell you my story.  I'm not planning to become rich and famous, I'm not even trying to sell any of my music or work on stage, but what I want to do is play music and sing.  I love music, all kinds of music.  I play guitar a little, electric and acoustic, also electric keyboard.  I'm really not that great of a player, I do consider myself more of a singer because I would and have sang on stage.  You won't see me on stage with a guitar or keyboard because I haven't practiced enough.  I love doing my internet radio show because I love the music and I like talking to different people around the world and sharing their talents and stories.  I don't do it for me, I do it because these people should be heard and they are talented and don't get the credit or recognition they deserve.  There are many internet radio shows out there and I would suggest to any musician who is starting out or wants to build their following base to do as many interveiws and make as many friends as you can on social media sites.  Besides all that, on this show I will be playing my own music that I wrote myself, with help of mixcraft 7, or songs I have co-written with someone else, like Marco Maenza out of Italy.  We have never met but we used the internet to combine our styles and wrote 2 songs together via the internet.
