  • Casablanca ... Swedish Rock Band

    in Rock Music

Today Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes the Fantastic Swedish Rock Band Casablanca to the show!
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/7xABIfp2LVR3pkH1ugH6Yx Itunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/closer-single/id1032319941 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/casablanca Casablanca is a Swedish rock band formed in 2007, but for almost two years the band was rehearsing and writing songs in secret. On January 10th 2010 they did their first appearance at P3 Gold Awards. The band consists of Anders Ljung, Josephine Forsman, Mats Rubarth, Erik Almström.
Closer is the second single (after 'My Shadow Out of Time') from the album Miskatonic Graffiti. The third full-length from Casablanca is a concept album based on the Chuthulu mythology, with a twist. The theme of the album is the individual and the collective, two equally important quantities that should exist in harmony for humanity to have a chance. There, in the balance, lays the key to victory or defeat, and the critical code to success or downfall.  The album was produced and recorded in the summer of 2014 in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden by Anders Ljung, Mats Rubarth, Erik Almström and Josephine Forsman, together with technician Jon Bordon.

  • Two Texans: Gina Chavez: bilingual genius . Sarah Pierce: strength and song.

    in Music

Texas-based singer/songwriter Sarah Pierce was musically influenced by her family’s heritage in the cattle business and she sings about the long line of women who get things done on the ranch.  Writing and playing classic country from a woman’s viewpoint and from a place firmly rooted in the land, she combines heartfelt story telling with an honest message throughout her career in the 8 albums spanning her career.  Pierce released her newest CD, Barbed Wire, on the Little Bear Records imprint. Produced by Merel Bregante, Barbed Wire was recorded at The Cribworks Digital Audio in Liberty Hill, Texas, and she is launching her support tour this month in Texas.
Gina Chavez is a bilingual Latin-folk singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas, who blends the sounds of the Americas with tension and grace. Her latest independent release, Up.Rooted, is a collection of bilingual songs traversing cumbia, bossa nova, vintage pop, reggaeton, and folk combined with dynamic vocals and sharp social commentary. The album topped the iTunes and Amazon Latin charts and was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. She is the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize Winner for her song “Siete-D,” a rock-cumbia-rap mix that explores the delights and dangers of El Salvador from the bus she rode as a volunteer there in 2010. She is currently on tour and will be onstage in Los Angeles at the Hotel Café, Oct 10 with Mitre and Irene Diaz.  But she stops in at Music FridayLive! this Friday.

  • "Up Close & Personal' with Smooth Jazz Guitarist "Dee Brown"

    in Music

Jazz guitarist Dee Brown returns with a new release called Brown Sugar, Honey Coated Love on Innervision Records.  Foundationally inspired by Proverbs 27:7 which says, “a satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, but to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”
By the time he founded the group Foreplay, Jazz guitarist Dee
Brown was already a polished artist, earning a solid reputation
playing venues in Detroit. Foreplay drew the attention of producer
Quincy Jones but Brown branched out in a different direction.
Brown formed the group One Wish, whose style was patterned
after Boyz II Men and Silk. The trio released its first album on the
TRC record label titled I Feel Like Getting Romantic. The single
Tell Me Why became One Wish’s first top 100 recording in the
Rhythm and Blues category. The group was also nominated for a
Nashville music award, and Tell Me Why won the award for the
Best Single by a Local Artist at the Metro Times Detroit Music

  • Exclusive Interview with Shaune Forrest of St Mary Jamaica

    in Music

Shaune Forrest aka Shaune Songz is a writer, musical artist & director. He was born March 14, 1989 in Annotto Bay, which is a town in the parish of Saint Mary, Jamaica. Shaune Forrest is the son of Shane St Patrick Forrest & Christine Lynch both from St Mary, Jamaica. Shaune grew up in Cromwell land St Mary where at around age 9 he began writing his girlfriend poems. He never took music seriously till his brother Stephen Forrest made a music group called FutureYouths. Back then Shaune Songz was known as Ajohn, the brothers learned to compose their own beats and self-record. From 2005 Shaune Songz has been performing at various local shows. After failing to impress the judges on a Digicel Rising Star Audition, Shaune decided that he would perfect his craft. In June 2014 he reappeared to the music scene with his hit single Honestly, an gospel inspired song. Thus his will power and determination can only result in growth and success. 2015 sparked new connections. Shaune collaborated with various writers and artists such as DJ Broshone, Blunt Queen and other Indie Artists, which led to songs like Wave The Hand & All Nite. The video to his hit single PartyMode was directed by Shaune Songz himself.
