Voices InJustice - Emotional or Verbal Abuse - Is this a societal abuse?

    in Current Events

Welcome to Voices InJustice, a continuing outreach program of Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery. We are here to share your public voice, without sharing your identity. You are able to share your thoughts by calling in live at 929-477-3163 or by loging into blogtalkradio.com with your Social ID and join the live chatroom. Sunday, Oct 11th, 7pm eastern/6pm central/4pm pacific time we are discussing the influence of Emotional and/or Verbal abuse.

TELL ME - Which would you find more influential in changing our behaviors; Is it what we constantly hear others say about us? Is it degrading words society uses to describe persons whom they don't even know? Is it what our children hear in the comments and condemnation from their parents or other kids at school? The key is that Emotional or Verbal Abuse can happen anytime, by anyone, it is how we pass judgement on others because of their lifestyle choice or certain ways they act. It is the comments by parents calling their child stupid, rather than saying, 'that was a stupid action, but you can do better'. Emotional & Verbal abuse is usually at it's worst in a dominating relationship; one your teen just might be tolerating to date the most popular person in school. It is something we think nothing about in our comments about the person or the family down the street, and it is what ends up being the constant bullying your child might be inflicting on others because its the only way people at home ever talk about them. This is a personally destructive abuse that targets how we see ourselves, the feeling of being worthy.

Tonight we discuss how we teach our kids to see our society and how they will handle social/personal relationships. Join us live for open discussion to share any experiences or comments, because we definitely VALUE YOUR VOICE. Our shows are strictly for open discussion entertainment only. Thank you

Voices InJustice - Would you make the call? Carolyn Wilson, MSW, LCSW

    in Current Events

Voices InJustice Radio, an outreach broadcast of Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery, supporting the 'Family Crimes & Terroristic Abuse Act'. Join us live, Sunday evenings @7pm eastern/6pm central/4pm pacific time for a live discussion about the injustices we see in our communitities, our schools, our political leaders, family service organizations, and inside our very close circle of family/friends. We welcome your calls at 929-477-3163 or use your Social ID; log into blog talk platform for our live chatroom during the shows. We take all calls & questions, so don't hesitate to bring it to our discussion table.

This Sunday evening, Oct 4th, it is a huge honor to welcome friend/colleague Carolyn Wilson, MSW/LCSW Sexual Abuse Therapist. Let's talk to someone who has been working with victims and families for over 30 years, as she gives us a very close personal insight in how this act, which so many believe is gentle and loving, will never harm the child; let's find out exactly what she has seen in helping survivors & families learn to cope and rebuild. There are many challenges you hear me talk about all the time, write about them, speak about them, and have helped my share of persons, but Ms. Wilson is the expert we welcome to answer your concerning questions. Let me ask you - Would you make the call to report/help a child in need, especially if you believe it to be a close member of your family? What types of backlash might we expect in reporting? Is it really anonymous to make a report?

Keep in mind our shows are for entertainment purposes. While we may have experts join in we cannot & do not provide any form of professional theraputic, legal, or medical advice. It is necessary for you to connect with a Hotline or a service in your area. Please join in and invite some friends, or your teenagers. It's a great way to start a conversation about today's matters and how to help. Thank you stopping by!

There are so many dangers in today's prescription drugs. The strength & addictive nature of these drugs, the high cost, the risk of our kids sneaking them, the street dollar value, the risk of your medical professional not paying attention to the multiple of drugs you or a person you care for might be taking, or how those drugs might effect/counter-effect one another; these are just some of the first things that come up. If you or someone you know has a comment, question, or personal share then join us for this very important discussion. Don't forget to invite your teens to get involved. They just might be able to help a friend or someone they know with problems related to these BAD DRUGS.

Voices InJustice - Teen Pregnancy, becoming young parents or playing house

    in Current Events

-Voices InJustice with host Trish McKnight; Sept 13th @ 6pm eastern/5pm central/3pm pacific time. Join me for another great broadcast discussion brought to you by, Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery community outreach broadcast radio. Our call in number 929-477-3163, open chatroom & online discussion.

Over the last two decades teen pregnancy has declined greatly due to oral contraception and education, along with a more open dialogue with parents. However, there is still on average 26.5/per 1000. There is a huge variation in race, state of residence (with southern states being most prominent). If your teen had an early pregnancy do you know what services are available to help them? What about housing, income, education, and ability to provide a sustaining safe life for their children?

There are many issues surrounding Teen Pregnancy, and tonight we are talking about this still hot topic. If you are grandparents to an early teen pregnancy, if you're a friend to someone who had an early teen pregnancy, someone who has more than one child in their teen years; these are all topics open for our phone lines. We do hope you'll join this conversation. Do we discuss openly about contraception, the use of condoms for disease prevention, and the ongoing support needed for these children, as well as the education & steady work, rather than welfare. Do our teens really know what they're getting into with sexual relationships? Are they prepared for the consequences of their actions? Are you finding as grandparents you are providing key early support & assistance for these children? Do you have open dialogue about sex & protection with your children?

These shows are for informative purposes & discussions, they are not intended as any form of legal, medical, or therapeutic advice. Join in w/ Trish about InJustices every Sunday
