The Perfect Guy For A Bad Girl-In The Perfect Guy For A Bad Girl, after losing her mother, Raine is left with the task of raising her three younger brothers. Moving to the hood from the suburbs was considered to be the worst thing that could have ever happened to her.
Although she is at the top of her graduating class and has received multiple scholarships, Raine struggles to stay focused during the last few months of high school. Her younger brother, Joog, steps up to the plate and attempts to become the man of the house. But Joog is an amateur and knows nothing about dealing with the streets. He quickly learns his lesson about trying to run with the big dogs, leaving Raine to pick up the slack and do whatever it takes to make sure that she and her siblings are taken care of. Shady watches Raine from afar as he runs the hood. He is the number one hustler in the streets, but what glitters isn't always gold. Shady gets in a little trouble and is sent off for a little while. While he's away, he vows to get his life together and come back with a positive mind and spirit. When he returns, young and sweet Raine isn't so innocent any more. Shady begins to wonder what would have transpired if he wouldn't have left and pursued Raine when he first laid eyes on her. Raine has transformed into a grown woman and the things she's done to keep money in her pocket are shameful. But for her family's well-being, she would do it all again. What is the perfect guy supposed to do when he falls deeply in love for a bad girl?

This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!
Meet author Birgitte Rasine. She's stopping by the Author Chat show to 'chat' with me about her book, The Jaguar & The Cacao Tree.
About the book:
If you liked “The Golden Compass” and “The Chronicles of Narnia,” be prepared to fall in love with mythic fantasy all over again. The Jaguar and the Cacao Tree pulls you into a mesmerizing world that blurs the lines between science, mythology, and the hidden magic of nature most adults find all but impossible. One of the world’s authorities on chocolate, the C-Spot, calls the book “a strong contender for the best [chocolate] title in the last 5 years.” When American-born Max and Maya-born Itzel open the pods of the Sacred Cacao Tree one night, they unwittingly unleash forces that threaten the past and future of the world’s most desirable food—and awaken two mythic beasts guarding the very DNA of chocolate. This book is perfect for book club discussions. A sequel, a coloring book, and an interactive game are all in the works for fans.
About the author:
Birgitte Rasine is an award-winning author, journalist, producer, and entrepreneur whose work marries sustainability with storytelling, mobile apps with print books, and art with technology. She is the author of numerous literary works and articles, and has spoken on topics ranging from media to sustainability on three continents. Birgitte’s books and mobile apps have been recognized by design and publishing awards and honors from organizations such as the Eric Hoffer Award, International Academy of Visual Arts in Los Angeles, Press 53, and the Alliance of Independent Authors.
