What Does Senior Friendly Mean?

In the simplest of terms Senior Friendly is a concept that challenges us to pro-actively prepare for a major change in our current demographic.  The Baby Boomer generation.

Senior Friendly means taking a long hard look at senior issues such as health care, lifestyle, dementia and senior consumer behavior and facilitating an inclusive environment.

Why Certification? As our nation ages we will have more seniors aging in their own homes.  It is important that we have the necessary supports and understanding to help our seniors thrive in their own environment, the place they call home.

This certification will help to delay age-related illness and promote health and independence for as long as possible.  By creating this type of environment, the community will find that seniors will continue to thrive and contribute to the city through involvement in the city and patronage of local businesses.
