Part II: Luana DeAngelis, Founder and President of YOU CAN THRIVE, a breast cancer survivor, and a self-proclaimed "science head", speaks bluntly about some of today's appalling misunderstandings that both the layman and medical doctors have about even the most basic natural solutions to acquiring great health. Luana expresses her dismay regarding the "Pink" movement for its ties to corporate interests and a never ending flow of funding that is misdirected towards researching and developing drugs instead of providing access to services and care for those in need. Her experience with the medical establishment has awakened her to how the system continues to ignore the health benefits of non-patentable natural remedies simply because they're non-profitable. Through her organization, YOU CAN THRIVE, Luana has taken it upon herself to address the symptoms that women with breast cancer suffer before, during and after cancer treatments. She has developed an integrative program that incorporates massage, reflexology, individual nutritional counseling, polarity, reiki, acupuncture, after-cancer supplementation, natural health education and other healthful modalities. Today the organization has grown into a 10,000 sq ft. space in central Manhattan.
