Marty Appel has written over 20 books. His last 4 are: Casey Stengel: Baseball's Greatest Character (winner of 2017 Casey Award as best baseball book of the year)......Pinstripe Empire: The New York Yankees from Before the Babe to After the Boss (generally considered the definitive history of the team)....Munson: The Life and Death of a Yankee Captain (NY Times best-seller) and Now Pitching for the Yankees (a memoir)....ESPN Baseball Book of the Year.

He was also the mail handler for Mickey Mantle back in the 1968 season, he has been a tv executive producer, as well as Director of Public Relations for the New York Yankees.
