How to mold proper arguments when dating a Trump Supporter

I have voted democrat most of my life except when I voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger for California governor.  As I have gotten older, I don't want to fortify my defenses strictly on party line nor vindicate others who think differently than me.  I have become more open minded since two of my cohosts are strong Republicans and even support Trump.  Ben provides a constitutional approach to government.  He describes the role of government, its limitations including use of federal land.  Jon adheres to Christian foundation as applied to the founding fathers and what gov't can achieve.  Tonight's episode explains some recent conflict I have had with the man I've been involved with for 5 months and how we may come to a better understanding.
