Helping yourself and friends cope with the holidays with Dr. Jonathan Brady:

  1. Thinking that holidays have to be inherently stressful and, therefore, have to be coped with is negative. Time to change your perspective.
  2. Overcome the images of the media defining your holidays for you, your family and friends.
  3. If your own family is an issue for you or a friend, create a new holiday ritual.
  4. Helping friends – the idea of holiday is about belonging. Let your friends know they belong.

See these holidays not as an obligation but as an opportunity – feeling grateful, setting up your spiritual traditions, and being thankful. Take every opportunity to re-visit how you can change your thinking around the holidays. By viewing this time as an opportunity to grow with your traditions, keeps them alive and fresh.

And remember... a great friend starts with you!
