Women and girls who have suffered through child molestation and subsequent rape(s) need to know that they are not damaged goods. They need to be able to express their pain, fears, frustration and all of their emotions that have held them in bondage. These feelings have kept them from enjoying fulfilling, trusting and loving relationships while leading them to destructive behaviors . These women and girls feel devalued and rejected, and disconnected with society. This is dangerous because these feelings may transfer to their children who will own the toxic emotions without tangible references regarding why they exist. This transference of poisonous passions can lead to the spread of HIV/AIDs, substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, female incarceration and more. These women and girls can be helped by just having empathic listeners who know how to offer caring attention to their need to be heard and affirmed as valuable. "When Girls Don't Tell" is a real life account of someone who experienced revictimization from child sexual abuse to multiple assualts at different times by different perpetrators. The book offers a realistic exploration into how this happens and how to cope with this sort of trauma.
