I have always found it to be a major disconnect that the majority of investment counselors are not independently wealthy . . . in essence, if they can't do it for themselves and their families how are they going to do it for you?!? "Classic" studies of investment adviser performance from the late 1960s and supported by data from the 70s concluded that there "is little evidence of consistently superior strategies" from institutional advisers. A 2000 paper concluded "There have been numerous studies assessing and evaluating the performance of mutual fund managers. The general conclusion of most of these studies over the last 30 years is that managers exhibit some skill at security selection, but have little or no market timing ability." In short, you have to take ownership for your investment strategy. Joining me in this probing 60-minute segment on the failings of institutional investment advisers and how you can take the proverbial "bull by the horns" is a guest panel of experts whose experience, expertise and insights will set you on a course of realistic and sustainable equity growth.
