This month, The Clarkie-Connection turns its focus on to several topics that may seem disparate but, actually, are not so dissimilar or unrelated.  We'll begin with an historical perspective, taking a brief look at the famed "Niagara Falls Conference" of 1905 and how that led to the formation of the NAACP, before moving on to the adoption of the 14th amendment and how it addressed citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws.  This will lead, directly, into a discussion of The Hobby Lobby case - currently in the news and, more specifically, the Supreme Court - and how that is shaping the national debate on religious freedom in America.  We'll then pick up where we left off last month in our ongoing discussion of The State of Education in America by looking at the staggering reductions in matriculations of minority students within NYC's three specialized schools.  Thirdly, we'll be shining a spotlight on how resiliency through racial/cultural identity, particularly for African-American youth, can positively impact academic achievement and success.  Join us for a complex series of topical issues and see how we deftly interweave them over the course of the hour!  Don't Miss This One! ~
