DANCE, pirouetting into HISTORY...Dance Theatre of Harlem embraces works by women.
Lately, the world of ballet has been scrutinized and criticized for two things: its lack of diversity and the shortage of female choreographers. Dance Theatre of Harlem has the first covered. This season it will do something about the second.
Dianne McIntyre, esteemed modern dance choreographer and Elena Kunikova, a Russian who is much admired for her teaching and staging of classical ballets soon will be presenting new works at City Center in New York.
These choreographers are a part of the company's new initiative, WOMEN WHO MOVE US, CREATED TO SUPPORT NEW WORKS BY WOMEN!
