Two-time Peabody Award-winning, three time DuPont Award winner and seven-time Emmy winner, filmmaker Ric Burns and the youngest female principal dancer currently on The American Ballet Theatre’s roster, 28 year old Isabella Boylston join Halli at her table on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Wednesday, July 22, 3 pm ET to talk about the 75th anniversary of The American Ballet Theatre and Burns’ new film The American Ballet Theatre: A History.
Best known for his series, New York: A Documentary Film, which premiered nationally on PBS, Ric Burns has been writing, directing and producing historical documentaries for over 20 years, since his collaboration on the celebrated PBS series The Civil War, which he produced with his brother Ken and co-wrote with Geoffrey C. Ward. Isabella Boylston was born in Sun Valley, Idaho and started taking dance classes at the age of 3. She studied ballet at the Academy of Colorado Ballet and at Harid Conservatory. When she was 14, she won the gold medal at the Youth American Grand Prix competition. At the age of 17, she was spotted by the director of the prestigious ABT studio company and invited to come to New York City and begin a career at American Ballet Theatre. She was promoted to soloist in 2011 and principal dancer in 2014. She is the recipient of the Clive Barnes Award, the Princess Grace Award, and the Annenberg Fellowship. She has appeared as a guest star with companies around the world including the National Ballet of China.
A look at The American Ballet Theatre: A History through the lens of award-winning filmmaker Ric Burns and prima ballerina Isabella Boylston Wednesday, July 22, 3 pm ET on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show.
Imagine a father and daughter bonding through the art form-BALLET. A true story. Part of this joy for the father comes from witnessing a wonder through his daughter's eyes, from allowing her delight to fire my own. This is among the best reasons not to give your children up for adoption the moment they become teenagers.
It began a few years ago when my daughter turned 12. We seemed to be losing each other, just a bit to our changing lives and cell phones. It seemed like a way to clear out some time to be together.
We were absolute beginners, she never caught the BALLET BUG as a child, and I knew little about dance but as time went on, BALLET gradually became our thing.
Our dance night ritual...etc.
A simple bonding exercise...etc.
Reason to dress-up...etc.
Dinner at a popular...etc.
BALLET a new window in...etc.

Martin Yate CPC - Knock Em Dead 2016
New York Times bestseller Martin Yate is the author of Knock Em Dead – The Ultimate Job Search Guide, now going into its 31st edition. It is the keystone of a 17-book series, with each book addressing a different aspect of job search and modern career management. Collectively published in some 63 foreign language editions, the Knock Em Dead way is unique in its scope and global acceptance in industrialized nations.
With new books and editions added constantly over the last thirty-one years, Mr. Yate’s body of work has gradually evolved into a carefully integrated strategy for navigating the twists and turns of a half-cetury work life. The Knock Em Dead philosophy delivers a practical methodology for achieving professional success, personal fulfillment and financial stability in an uncertain world.
With 17 books and two optical patents to his name and as someone who last danced with a professional ballet company at age 55, he is clearly one of those who has turned ADHD into a superpower. Martin is also a recovering alcoholic of some years standing, and exchanging one obsessive compulsion for another; he particularly enjoys collecting prohibition-era cocktail shakers.

Bennet Pomerantz talks to media guests on the Betty Award winning ANYTHING GOES. His guest tonight is author Talia Carner
Talia Carner was the publisher of Savvy Woman magazine. A former adjunct professor at the Long Island University School of Management and a marketing consultant to Fortune 500 companies, she was also a volunteer counselor and lecturer for the Small Business Administration and a member of United States Information Agency’s (USIA) missions to Russia. She participated in the 1995 International Women’s Conference in Beijing, where she sat on economic panels and helped develop political campaigns for Indian and African women. Ms. Carner’s first novel, PUPPET CHILD, was listed in “The Top 10 Favorite First Novels 2002” and launched a nationwide legislation–The Protective Parent Reform Act–which became the platform for two State Senatorial candidates. CHINA DOLL made Amazon’s bestsellers list and served as the platform for Ms. Carner’s presentation at the U.N. in 2007 about infanticide in China—the first ever in U.N. history. Her latest published novel, JERUSALEM MAIDEN, (HarperCollins, 2011,) won the Forward National Literature Award in the “historical fiction” category. In June 2015, HarperCollins will release Carner’s newest novel, HOTEL MOSCOW, which tells the riveting story of the daughter of Holocaust survivors who travels to Russia shortly after the fall of communism. Over 50 of Carner’s award-winning short stories, articles, and personal essays have appeared in anthologies, literary magazines, and leading websites.

I was introduced to Classical Ballet at the age of eleven. I was my happiest when I was at the Ballet Studio doing odd jobs to pay for Ballet Classes. When in class, I was in another world, A HAPPY WORLD...1st position-barre-plie-releve-2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position.
Ballet teaches body discipline. Did you know football players have been known to take ballet classes. The discipline serves you well as you advance in age too.
Dorit Sasson of Giving Voice to Your Courage, interviews Bob Walicki, a Pittsburgh based poet and the curator of VERSIFY, a monthly reading series in Pittsburgh, on the role courage has taken him from challenging the traditional roles of what it means to be a sensitive man in a field that looks on his poetic sensitivity as a weakness.
His work has appeared in HEArt, Stone Highway Review, Uppagus, The Kentucky Review,Grasslimb, and on the radio show Prosody. He won 1st runner up in the 2013 Finishing Line Open Chapbook Competition and was awarded finalist in the 2013 Concrete Wolf Chapbook Competition. He currently has two chapbooks published: A Room Full of Trees (Red Bird Chapbooks, 2014) and The Almost Sound of Snow Falling (Night Ballet Press, 2015). He lives in Verona, PA with his wife, Lynne, and two cats.
Bob Walicki has worked for years in the construction industry and as a plumber. As a poet, he's been the target of prejudices because he didn't fit into those traditional roles. Often he has to hide being a poet in the building trades industry though he says, "recently it's been liberating to write about those experiences in my new chapbook, "The Almost Sound of Snow Falling."
Journalist, Morning Talk Show Host, Professional Ballet Dancer, Advocate to stop violence against women, Periscope Broadcaster and World Traveler...The amazing Irina Ivic joins us today!
An excerpt from Irina's biography.
As a video journalist, I travelled and filmed reports in Serbia, Copenhagen, Istanbul and Hanover. As a journalist, producer and anchor I was working on a series “The Children in Need”, in cooperation with UNICEF. I was a trademark face and a host of a promotional film in a campaign "We are changing diabetes" organized by The Republic Health Insurance Fund and host of the show "Innovators" from which RTS selects and rewards the best scientific innovations in Serbia each year.
A few years ago I got an offer to become a presenter of the Morning show, and not long after from the editorial board of the Cultural news to become one of their anchors. Today I work as a host of both shows, but new roles in the programme have not changed what one journalist carries inside - the need to observe and analyze social issues twenty-four hours a day.
The question I hear every day is - how can you wake up at four in the morning? The answer is #liveyourlife and in the meantime figure out how to do it in the best possible way.
