The Common Cents of Security - with Mr. Jay Hodes

Jay Hodes, President and founder of Colington Security Consulting, LLC, and a company he started in 2013.  He is the former Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIGI) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General.

Mr. Hodes has over 30 years of combined experience in risk assessments, site security evaluation, policy and procedures assessments, special events security, emergency operations, executive protective operations and Federal law enforcement management.  In his previous position as an AIGI, Mr. Hodes supervised over 200 Special Agents and professional support staff responsible for investigations and law enforcement efforts throughout the eastern United States. In addition, he oversaw four Headquarters branch divisions – National Training and Emergency Operations, Special Investigations (Internal Affairs), Protective Operations, and Administrative Operations, based in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Hodes has served as the Special Agent in Charge for Protective Operations providing management oversight and directing all aspects of executive protection coverage for eight U.S. government cabinet secretaries including the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Commerce.

He has evaluated and assessed physical security standards for safeguarding employees, office space locations and sensitive law enforcement equipment; conducted site security surveys and assessments for numerous domestic and overseas locations; and has led and been a part of protective operations missions in over 100 countries including critical threat environments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
