Baba Obafemi Fayemi aka Stephen Mackey is a native Houstonian and father of four boys. He has degrees in both education and political science and was an exceptional international athlete playing basketball both in Europe and South America.  After his athletic career, Baba Fayemi worked in corporate America, retiring in 2004. As a former Bible Sunday school teacher he began to study the esoterical meaning of “the word,” which led him to Ifa “The Wisdom of Nature,” an ancient Yoruba spiritual tradition.  He was initiated Priest by the late Oluwo (High Priest) Dr. Afolabi Adeyemi Epega and raised by the Araba of Ode Remo, Adesanya Awoyade, and the elders of Ode Remo to the title, Chief Mayegun which means,  ”the one who speaks for Ifa in America on behalf of Ode Remo.”  He was also given the title Olorioko which means “head of the family” by Olojumoke Epega, the wife of Dr. Epega, and by the elders of the Gaga community in Akure, Ondo State Nigeria.

He is internationally known as a spiritual counselor, lecturer and teacher. He is the Author of Who is Sambo? A Journey of Lessons, concerning the genesis of black self hatred.  “Baba Femi” as many of his godchildren refer to him, has helped show numerous individuals how the Divine Source speaks to them through signs, symbols and divination i.e., the Wisdom of Nature (Ifa).  Baba Fayemi is the head of Obafemifayemi Institute for the Study of Ifa (OISI) Its mission is to help those who seek to develop the awareness of self and purpose.
