Meet Our Guest Charron Monaye: Charron’s work as an author and playwright takes social issues, such as antibullying, police brutality, and father’s rights, head on in unconventional ways using an ‘Educate with Entertainment’ approach. The proof is in her published books of poetry “My Side of the Story” and “Living Laughing and Loving My Way Through” promoting self-love, positive relationships, and the power of healing. After her success with poetry, Charron took her writing to the stage in her first play “Living Your Life”, with the hopes of reaching a larger audience. She went on to write four more stage plays; “Get Out Of Your Own Way,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends”, “Pawns” & “Saving Our Sons”. “Why Can’t We Be Friends” was a sold-out success story on anti-bullying showcasing her son, Christopher Hopson as the lead character. It pays to be a dreamer. Charron has received several acknowledgements and awards for her work. In 2013 she was an honoree of the Girls on Fire Awards in Cleveland, Ohio; receiving the “Presidential Award” and “Best Independent Author” award. In 2014, she won “Real Life Based Stage Play of the Year” for the production “Why Can’t We Be Friends” at The DPI 3rd Annual Playwrights Awards in New York. She has a B.A. in Political Science, Masters in Public Administration, and a certificate in Paralegal Studies. She currently works as a Senior Veterans Service Representative with the Department of Veterans Affairs. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Epsilon Rho Zeta Chapter & Order of Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #66 (PHA~ PA), and The Visionaries.
