Terry's first real first step forward in her teenage years was to enroll in a 2-year college and begin my academic pathway onto college. She took the first step even though she did not have a strong educational background because of a reading disability and there was no extra money to cover the cost of tuition. She was mocked and made fun of because she struggled in school. 

Even through failure was apart of her world at that time; it produced a drive in her to succeed. Her tenacity and fortitude to better herself cancelled out any adversity that was set before her.
