THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS HAS BANNED MY BOOK! As an outspoken critic, the FL DOC doesn't want the truth to come out - it is the most corrupt, brutal agency in all of Florida.
For nearly three years, I worked as a psychotherapist in a Florida state prison psychiatric ward where severely mentally ill patients on my caseload were abused, starved, taunted, tormented, and beaten by correctional officers. After a patient on my caseload was beaten by guards, my attempts to raise the issue of patient abuse were met with silence. My vociferous advocacy for the humane treatment of our patients ended in my dismissal. Ten months after my departure, guards put a man named Darren Rainey in a boiling hot shower and scalded him to death.to discuss the treatment of mentally ill inmates housed at the Dade Correctional Institute in Homestead. He shared what he says he observed and what he says he has reported to the U.S. Department of Justice.Mallinckrodt worked in the Transitional Care Unit for two years. He said he reported to prison and state authorities a story told to him by one inmate back in 2010 of being beaten by guards.
