The Business Folks who Made America

Host Bart Jackson helps us all celebrate our Independence Day by uncovering a few of the business folks (some quite saintly - some not so saintly) who have brought our land to the incredible state in which we find ourselves.  America began as a capital venture with folks seeking the unheard of return of 5 percent.  It took its founding from a group of honest merchants and rebellious smugglers.  We owe our war of independence victory to a merchant and his socialite wife. America founded the first chain of retail stores which launched its founder into the White House - then into the poor house.  And our nation was railroaded into the machine age in a large part due to two stockbrokers turned cotton "merchants" in the Civil War.  Tune in and learn how the business of America has always been buisness.
