Are Your Leadership Skills Still Relevant in the Current Economic Climate? A different mix of leadership and management skills are not just needed, but are critical to leadership viability in an economic downturn. Do you have them? What has worked effectively for you and your leadership team during the ‘good times’ of economic stability and growth, may well not be enough for the current climate. The fact is, those who thrive as leaders in good times often struggle in a crisis, because of the very different demands put on them and their people. Join us as executive coach Lisa Pasbjerg, interviews Mark Brown, MBA, and Principal at "Clarity Professional Development", based in Portugal, and a specialist in international leadership development and business strategy. Mark, and his wife and business partner, Meg, had the privilege of seeing the ‘before and after’ perspective while working in Russia in the late 1990, when Russia had its ‘ruble crisis’ in the wake of the Asian financial crisis of 1997. A similar history seems to be repeating itself now in the US and Europe, and on a much larger scale. We will discuss the three types of challenges business leaders typically face in a downturn, as well as: What is being demanded of current leaders? What are the implications for his or her development? And, what role can coaching and or leadership development play in this process? Finally, we will wrap up with Mark sharing seven specific tips that leaders need to know when struggling in a tough environment.
