Co-Host Karriem Hameed leads today's panel discussion with men, taking a look at this issue: The current divorce rate is upwards to 70% in the U.S., and for many couples, marriage is not even an option. Terms like "Baby' Mama" or "Baby' Daddy" are commonly accepted as designation of a parent of one's child who is not a spouse. Men have their girlfriends plus a "side chick" and women may strive to be "players" like the men, unwilling to settle into a committed longterm relationship with legal documents to give one the rights of inheritance as a member of the family. Is there an aversion to marriage in today's society? Is it because of the painful divorces many have experienced, either in their own lives or the lives of their parents? Should we redefine marriage, its purpose, and its structure? Marriage used to mean ownership of a woman by her husband, like a piece of property. Do we need to change our perception of spouses as people we own the rights to their bodies, emotions and money?  Should we remove lawyers, the government and the legal system from participating in, regulating and adjudicating matters that really should be handled privately by the families invoved? Are divorce lawyers profiting from conflict and making it worse?  What are the benefits, if any, of marriage today?  Men call in 515-605-9891. Women call 515-605-9325, lets listen together!
