After the funeral, the visits and the calls from the concerned friends eventually stop. What do you do when the pain of grief over the loss of a loved one intensifies? Edward and Shirley Calahan, owners of Calahan Funeral Home talk about the process of helping families through grief, and their experiences as funeral directors in the violence plagued south side community, in which many young people have beenkilled by gun violence.  The family of Hadiya Pendleton, King College Prep honor student gunned down just days after attending the President's Inauguration, leaned on the Calahans for emotional support as did many of the families who unexpectedly lost loved ones to violence.  How does a family heal from such unexpected tragedy? How can friends remain supportive of those who have lost loved ones through violence?
