John Carosella hosts Convergence, a journey into shamanism, science, and mysticism, exploring our beautiful world. In today's program, John is in Spirited Conversation with Kimberly Walters, a doctoral candidate at the Univeristy of Chicago and faculty member at University of California, Irvine. Kimberly has done ethnographic studies in Southern India, investigating the cultural interplay between sex workers and the NGOs seeking to "rescue" them. The facts on the ground belie easy conclusions, and what seems like freedom might be exploitation of a different kind.
In his Reflections segment, John shares his encounter with Fly Medicine - an uncomfortable but ultimately healing journey into powerful and ubiquitous support that we ignore at our own risk, finding within it a tool for addressing old, deep, and stubborn wounds.
