(Rescheduled from 9/19)

The summer is finally behind us.  Fall is in the morning air.  The holidays are right around the corner.  Does that thought make you cringe with anxiety?  Do you think about a family get together, and instead have a mental replay of National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation”?  Are you already starting to sweat the details of that visit over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house?

There is no denying that the holiday season is generally a time of increased tensions, rather than Norman Rockwell moments.  But how are we contributing to this sense of doom and gloom?  Are the messages we send ourselves creating this tension and robbing us of the fun that is actually right in front of us?

We are less likely to be hard on others if we aren’t busy beating ourselves up.  So, why do we do it?  What is so difficult about being nice to ourselves?  Why do we spend weeks worrying about whether or not someone is going to find a spot on our holiday tablecloth, or criticize our choice of appetizers?  Because we are listening to the critic inside our own heads.  And maybe it’s time to do a 180 and change our minds.

Kim Harman is the Creator and Founder of the “Tend Roses System” (www.tendroses.com), and is coming back on the show today to discuss why it is so important to give yourself permission to love YOU, not just everyone else around you!  Tune in for a full hour with Kim on September 23rd at 9AM EST!
