The frog and the prince in the title of the book are metaphors for either a healthy relationship experience or its opposite. Frog or Prince provides the reader with information on the mechanics of a relationship—how relationships work, why to get in, and how to get out—and a list of needs that any woman deserves to get met in a relationship. The book provides tools—a bar, a hurt list and a prince/frog list—to help the reader learn more about herself and her needs. The concept of respect—self-respect, respect for others and the expectation to be treated respectfully—is threaded throughout the book and is the key for a woman to continue to build self-esteem within the context of her relationship. Every girl dreams of living happily ever after with her Prince— but how do you tell a Prince from a Frog? This book follows Natalie, Meghan, Ella and Elizabeth through their relationships, as they gain the skills to determine if the guy they’re with is the right guy for them. Or as one reviewer put it “it is an opportunity for the reader to identify with one or all of the four girls—Natalie, Meghan, Elizabeth and Ella—who each discover who they are or who they become when they are with their guy.”
