Colorism??? What is it?? Do we discriminate within?

What is colorism? It is discrimination based on skin color?  It was a term coined in 1982 by Alice Walker. Colorism can be found in Africa, Asia, South America, and many counries around the world. People within their own race discriminate against others because of the lightness or darkness of thier skin. Does this happen in the African American community?
