Like the long-tracked storm, Elizabeth Warren's Dem nomination for US Senate is no surprise but it's still big. Incumbent US Sen. Scott Brown is an affable buffoon of little previous accomplishments and a voting record way out of step with the state. She's damned knowledgeable and very progressive. He's so far hid from his dreadful votes and gone for ad hominen diversion. He has incumbency, and bags of right wing and financial industry donations though. We kick around what it means that she won't face a party primary, how far Brown can push generalities and clowning in debates and speeches, and whether she can convince jaded voters they don't have to accept a bought Senator. She's scary because she knows what has to be done in the Senate.
