Tibetan singing bowls are beautiful and mysterious. They have been used for centuries to induce and enhance meditation, as a call to prayer, as ceremonial objects and as functional bowls for cooking, eating, drinking and collecting alms. “Sound therapy” is a relatively new concept; however, the power of vibration has been known since biblical times and has been used in modern medicine to crush kidney and gall stones without invasive surgery. It seems logical that vibrations from a singing bowl could have an effect on a tight muscle or soft tissue, and resonate our bodies which are more than one-half water. Furthermore, vibrations from the bowls affect not only the physical body, but have an impact on a person’s emotional state and the more subtle energy fields such as the chakras.
