Whose responsibilty is it to lead a team?

Tonight on "Around The ATL" we will talk about team sports and leadership. Who has the responsibility to lead a team? On the field, on the court, on the pitch (soccer). Usually, it's the player that handles the ball the most. Quarterback, point guard, a pitcher. For some it's the person that contributes the most to a team winning. For some it's the player that has been there the longest. Or it's a combination of all of those things. Does a team need leadership from a player or players? Does it matter? Can you be the player that touches the ball the most and "not" be a leader?
