Meighan Dorr is the recipient of the Frank Sullivan Humanitarian Award given by the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers to 2 recipients each year. In an effort to express her concern for humanity Meighan Dorr orchestrated the largest write in campaign Philadelphia has ever seen. Police shootings and murders are a major challenge in Philadelphia as well as police brutality. The need to perform this civil servant duty was cultivated in Meighan with help from T.M. Pierce Elementary School Bright Light Organization. While participating in this organization Meighan developed her writing and speaking skills, and a strong sense of urgency to fix the evils of society. Bright Lights enabled Meighan to write essays in support of black activist and dignitaries such as Stokley Carmichael {Kwame Ture} and Roxanne Jones.
