The Labor Day 2015 broadcast of Gullah/Geechee Riddim Radio highlights the power of union from A. Phillip Randolph to self-determination!  Each year hostess, Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation (www.QueenQuet.com) highlights the history of Labor Day and labor unions.  On this broadcast, she focuses on the work done by the Pullman Car Porters and the growth and benefit of unions in the Black community.  She interviews Union Delegate Kwame Sha of the 1199 SEIU to talk about unions and the battle to have and keep them as well as the history of the defeat of union organizing in the Gullah/Geechee Nation, but how that has not stopped Gullah/Geechee self-determination.  There is power in union!

This show is sponsored by the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition (www.gullahgeechee.net).
