Some decisions to live what we call the good life over the values of respect and fame may come at a heavy price.

A wise man once told me a story that while he was in living in a time where a family had possession of one of the world's most expensive diamonds. It was a Cartier Diamond, and the family asked the man if he could hide it for them while the whole family was being taken into prison for being from another culture. The man gave his promise that he would help them. But when it came time for the man to be taken into prison because of his culture, he sold the diamond to the authorities and gained his own Freedom. When asked why he did such an act "he said the Germans paid too well for me to help my friend and his family escape." Besides, I wanted to be famous and free over the value of my friend and his family. Knowing that the authorities had no respect for the culture I was born in. That one act tormented the man for years to come, because he could have helped his Friend.
