Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now with Denise Thomson, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Nurse, Fitness Trainer, Educator, Speaker, and Published Best Selling Author.

Over the last 3 weeks, I have experienced many inspiring moments by recognizing when stress kicks in and how I can reduce it or even stop it. 5 min rule.

Stress, be it negative + overwhelming or positive + exciting, is still stress. Our brain does not know the difference, as it does NOT compute, recognize NO, NOT, NEGATIVE.

OSHA states that America spends over $300 billion/yr on stress related health care.

Drs. say that about 80% of their patients problems are caused by stress: High BP, Diabetes, body aches, Asthma, Headaches, Migraines, Clogged arteries, Weight Gain/Loss, Unpleasant Behavior, Heart Attack, Stroke...

Webster's Dictionary claims that 75 - 90 % of all doctor visits are related to stress.

I have many family members who were or still are in the medical field as Dr., DDS, Dental Hygienist, Nurses (incl. myself), etc. and we all have seen what stress can do to a person and their loved ones.

What Is Stress?

Physical stress occurs through exertion. It generally results in pain or stiffness.

Mental stress surfaces when your brain is in overload.

Emotional stress happens when you are not in control of your circumstances.

Stress can impact your health and your effectiveness. Stress causes injury, leads to depression, can result in chronic disease, etc.
