The Bible says in Revelation 19:11-12: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.”

Why Was Hell Created?

Did you know that hell was created for a specific purpose? That purpose is found in Matthew 25:41: "Then shall he [Jesus] say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels." 

This statement made by Jesus Christ, relating to judgment day, points out that hell was created for the judgment of the devil and his angels. The apostle Peter sheds more light on this with these words in 2 Peter 2:4: " For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment." Because the angels sinned, they are being "reserved for judgment."
