    RTR: Persecution

    in Christianity

What is perscution?  Is it someone talking bad about you?  Is it touching God's anointed?   Has Western Christianity suffered from persecution?  What do believers who live in countries where Christianity is illegal, and the open practice of it may have deadly consequences, think when they hear Western Christians say they are being persecuted?  Would you consider these things persecution; no prayers in schools, the removal of the 10 commandments from government buidlings, the taking down of nativity scenes, pro gay marriage laws being passed. It seems that whenever the ekklesia was under the threat of real persecution, it thrived and grew.  What happend, when the persecution stopped?  Join RTR this and every Sunday at 10am est as we talk about persecution.  Call 661 449 9951

Satans Covert Operation: Persecution Through Film and The Media

    in Christianity

What does the Bible say about the spirit of the Antichrist and the persecution of God's people around the world? How does Hollywood play a central role in Satans Covert Operation? Is it a wonder why the founder of the church of Satan, Anton LaVey said "We can use TV as a potent propaganda machine. The stage is set for the infusion of true satanic philosophy..." and, "The birth of TV was a magical event foreshadowing its satanic significance. The first commercial broadcast was aired on Walpurgisnacht, April 30th, 1939, at the New York World's Fair. Since then, TV's infiltration has been so gradual, so complete that no one even noticed. People don't need to go to church any more; they get their morality plays on television." There is a very deep Biblical mystery concerning the birth of the Hollywood Blockbuster, and perpetual indoctrination or "propaganda" in almost every movie ever made, but here is a mere scratching the surface. What I thought was going to be a talk on persecution in general, I believe God had me build the argument specifically for persecution in the media. I hope you prayerfully enjoy.

Rescue Radio: "Modern Persecution" with Marjorie Cole

    in Religion

There is a war for our souls and a bounty on our heads. Join us, 7pm tonight, for an eye witness report on the present day persecution and suffering of believers world wide. Persecution is accepted as the price anyone who would follow Jesus Christ must be willing to pay and a sign that authenticates the true church. It is an undisputable mark of righteousness and a clear indication that we are in a war that moves deeper than most would have guessed.

"Because There Is A War For Your Soul" Nothing boring or too political or super spiritual. Just probably some of the most radical and useful information you will find on radio. Join us live Tuesdays at 7pm CST or catch us on the run.

It’s time to talk straight about the war between God and Satan that is going on in our souls. And though the battle is the Lord’s and has already been won, the Enemy still seems to have a lot to say that has left too many of us doubtful and confused about what is going on and what can be done about it. It is time to talk back and tell it like it is!

Hosted by Marjorie Cole, founder of Life Recovery, Inc., and author of “Taking the Devil to Court” with Jarry Cole, Pastor of True Light Church as the featured guest pastor and roving co-host.

    Persevering Through Persecution

    in Religion

In this lesson Peter continues to discuss persecution. In the earlier chapter Peter deals with preparing for persecution 1Peter 3:13-18. In this setting he takes a quick slant that relates to persevering.

While we might not ever endure "physical" persecution, it is unlikely that we will escape occasional "verbal" or "social" persecution.

Therefore, this lesson can be of great benefit to help us persevere in such circumstances

Persecution of Christians with Olga Gladky Verro

    in Current Events

Some of you will remember Olga from two weeks ago. She was such an interesting and passionate lady to interview that Maxine and Jeannie felt it important to invite this guest back. There is so much more to hear about the persecution of Christians that really does matter for today. Events taking place around the world make this a message that is pertinent today and should not be ignored. We invite you to listen in, mind wide open, ready to absorb truths from this remarkable woman, whose history and the preserved writings of Orest M. Gladky, “Voices From The Past …Russia-Soviet Union: 1917-1971” are told. Unless the past is taken seriously, we could be caught unaware as history repeats itself.

    Dealing With Persecution God's Way

    in The Bible

Every Christian knows that we will all suffer persecution at some point in some way.  The only question is, when and how. There are different types of persecution, and different causes that bring it on.  Sometimes it is caused by jealousy, others times it stems from pain.  There is persecution from the world, and there is persecution from within the Church.  God has given us a prescription that tells us exactly how to handle it.  This week we will talk about what God really says about how to get over offense, regardless of its cause or source.  Join us online at 4 pm, http://blogtalkradio.com/wordwisdom, or by phone @ 661.554.9174.  See you then!

Persecution in the Second Century (Part 5)

    in Religion

    The History of Christianity #29

Our Scripture verse today is Acts 8:4 which reads: "Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word."

Our quote today is from Theophilus of Antioch. He said: "Say to those that hate and curse you, You are our brothers!"

Today, we are examining "Persecution in the Second Century" (Part 5) from Dr. Justo L. Gonzalez's fine book, The Story of Christianity (Volume 1).

Today's subject is Toward the End of the Second Century

Marcus Aurelius died in 180 and was succeeded by Commodus, who had begun to rule jointly with him eight years earlier. Although Commodus did not issue any edicts against persecution, the storm abated during his reign, and the number of martyrs was relatively low. After the death of Commodus, there was a period of civil war, and Christians were once again ignored in favor of more pressing matters. Finally, in 193, Septimius Severus became master of the empire. At first, Christians were able to live in peace under his reign. But eventually he too added his name to the growing list of those who had persecuted the church. However, since this was early in the third century, we shall return to it at another point in our narrative.

In summary, during the entire second century Christians were in a precarious position. They were not constantly persecuted. Sometimes they were persecuted in some areas of the empire, and not in others. Since the general policy of the empire was that outlined by Trajan -- Christians were not to be sought, but, if brought before the authorities, they must be forced to recant or be punished - the good will of their neighbors was very important...
