Come along on a sentimental journey, the birth of Father's Day-Circa 1909, Spokane, Washington...Sonora Dodd had an epiphany, while listening to a Mother's Day sermon, she wanted to honor her own Father, William Smart, who was well deserving of a special day as a widowed farmer left alone to raise his six kids single-handedly.

A year later, residents embraced the idea so warmly that by June 19,1910 the first Father's Day celebration was proclaimed.
