VETERANS DAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2012
The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetary. The ceremony begins percisely at 11 a.m. with a wreath laying at the tomb of the UNKNOWNS and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by Veterans' Organizations and remarks from Dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honour and thank all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
President Wilson in 1919 proclaimed the first Armistice Day with the following words.
STAY TUNED...
To us in America...etc.
The day is filled with solemn...etc.
America is given the opportunity to...etc.
A two minute suspension of business...etc.
A day marked with parades and public meetings...etc.
