Maurice A. Barboza is the founder and CEO of National Mall Liberty Fund DC, a non-profit authorized by Public Law 112-239 to establish a memorial to African American contributions to liberty during the Revolutionary War. In September 2014, Public Law 113-176 made the National Liberty Memorial eligible for a site in Washington's Monumental Core. He said, "this memorial will remind Americans that it was their vision for America that prevailed."
Mr. Barboza has written opinion pieces and spoken extensively about the 30-year quest to construct the memorial and his aunt's trail-blazing battle in the mid-1980s for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. A 2013 book, "Sacrificing Soldiers on the National Mall," by Kristin Haas, and a recent article in the Washington Post, "After 30 years, a site for memorial," by Tom Jackman, tell the story.

In this episode, blogger Sacerdotus speaks on Memorial Day, its history and importance in American culture. He also answers some comments made against troops as well as explains what Just War is according to Church teachings. Listen in to learn more about this holiday in the United States of America and why we must appreciate the service that our men and women in uniform offer and never forget them. We must support our troops and pray for them, living or deciased.
With the anniversary of 9/11 coming up Jim, Dave and Josh plan on talking a bit about the Memorial itself. Mainly how many feel it is designed to earn revenue more than anything else. That can be hard to argue with the high price of entry, t-shirt sales and offerings of statue of liberty miniatures.
Have you been to the Memorial? What do you think? Is it too costly and does the sale of tourist items lessen the meaning of this hallowed ground.
Please join us with your opinion, some 9/11 reflection and a few other EMS news items.
Memorial Day 2014 is a special presentation hosted by Jerry Pippin.
I thank you as your Commander-in-Chief because you inspire me," Your willingness to serve, to step forward at a time of war, and say 'send me,' is the reason the United States stays strong and free. Of all the honors that I have serving as President, nothing matches serving as your Commander-in-Chief."President Obama at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan

from a retired OSCS SW to all of you
Last Friday I showed this slide on the big screen and played the Billy Ray Cyrus song “Gave Some , Some Gave All " In my classroom , as a Pre- Memorial Day thought , Most said or did nothing, A few could not tear themselves apart from their Electronics toys and even pay attention, ONLY One said "Thank you" as he walked out of class.
At the risk of causing controversy, let us remember that we are only one generation away from losing the Freedoms that we have in the US. While we cannot personally say thank those who have passed on before defending those freedoms, we can all pause for a minute and offer a silent word of prayer of thanks to those who have passed before. I do believe that saying “Thank you “to a Vet is appropriate for today because they have already spent their time. It is even More appropriate to say “Thank You “ to any or all Active Duty, Reserve, or Guard Member currently serving because they right now are defending those precious freedoms that we still enjoy.
With that I just want to say THANK YOU to ALL Military Veterans, past and Present, I want to say THANK you to any and all Active Duty, Reserve, or Guard Members out there. I want to offer a special thought to my DAD, My Uncle, and to BOB all three who already passed and say Happy Memorial DAY you are not forgotten.
