"I’d never had a relationship with my own father, so when Phil came into my life I had no idea what I was getting into. I was 12 and he was 42. It all seemed to happen so fast. One minute I was hearing him tell me he was in love with me, and the next minute… The physical aspect of our relationship was unsettling. I still played with Barbie dolls and he knew it. Walking home after spending the day with my seventh grade classmates, I’d sometimes see his car parked at the church waiting for me. I’d run inside and tell him all about my day. He pretended to be interested but he clearly had other reasons for being there."
