Syria accepts Russian chemical weapons plan
Kerry said that the only thing that could avert a strike was if Assad would agree to turn over control of all of his WMD to the international community. Kerry didn't expect Assad to agree to that. Putin immediately jumped on that, and advised Assad to turn his Chemical Weapons over. Assad immediately agreed that he would do just that. Now Kerry's aide is saying Kerry didn't really mean it. smh And Hillary Clinton said that would be one step in the right direction, but they still must hold Syria accountable (i.e., they want to strike no matter what).Emma Young Chicago John Kerry saying that any Syria action would be “unbelievably small” and that it was a rhetorical response, and not a proposal, according to a State Department official, and that the Obama administration was only interested in a serious proposal from Moscow.
