When Kendra Fisherwas a young woman she had a dream of playing on Canada's Olympic women's hockeyteam.

Fisher worked hard — and just when she was about to realize her dream, her life began to spin out of control. At a Team Canada try-out in 1999, she became incapacitated by her anxiety disorder and was forced to quit training camp.

One study, released in January 2010, shows depressionand suicidal thoughts are on the rise at campuses in both Canada and the U.S. Another American study shows stress levels among college freshmen are at an all-time high.

More work needs to be done to broaden awareness of the symptom, remove the stigma and help people know when they need to seek help.
