Most teachers, from elementary to college levels, are able to identify when students have difficulty learning, within the first weeks of a semester. However, employers and co-workers are not able or qualified to identify employees with Learning Disabilities unless the person is willing to ask for an accommodation. This Ask Dr. Applewhite™ Radio Talk Show will clarify how support, referrals, and accommodations can be provided more effectively. Our Special Guest, Dr. Beverly Poellnitz, Educator, Entrepreneur, along with other guests will enlighten us on how cultural considerations must be given when discussing any issue of learning, mental health, and performance. Host, Dr. Danita Applewhite shares current trends for employers, as well as teachers, that will help with ways to provide accommodations and stay legal with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Hear VET2VET conversations about how Student Veterans address asking for accommodations from Disabled Student Resources and Employee Assistance Programs. . Would you please send your donation of at least $10 or more to continue our radio broadcasts, and help our students and Veterans with disabilities reach their education and workforce goals? Visit http://whiteappleinstitute.org and click on DONATE. This is a re-broadcast of Support for Learning Disabilities aired 10-11-2014.
