Ms. Walker is a Writer, an Entrepreneur and an Historian, located in Dana Point, California. She is the founder of the Dana Point Historical Society, which was founded twenty plus years ago. She has been a resident of Dana Point since 1963, and while there, she has taken and collected a vast amount of Photographs through the years. Her pictures motivated and enabled her to create the book “Dana Point”, which gives a definitive tour of her extremely photogenic home port.

As an Orange County historical commissioner, Ms. Walker has written over a dozen books, including “Home Port for Romance”, which is a comprehensive history of the Capistrano Bay area. Currently, she is working on her new book titled “In Touch with Whales”, which may be influenced by the Festival of Whales, which began nearly 40 years ago as an annual seaside event in the picturesque town of Dana Point. The community and visitors celebrate the migration of the California Gray Whale and other species with ocean-themed events and activities with an emphasis on education and environmental responsibility.

Doris was the first chairperson for the Festival of Whales. She is also the President of the Orange County District- California Press Women, and is a member of the Dana Point Lighthouse Society.
