As a lifelong lover and advocate for animals Denise authored 4 children’s book and a non ficion work "Tony's Tale, Tragedy in Arizona." Her books promote compassion for all creatures and raise awareness for the plight of unwanted dogs and cats in our society.  She has also has a weekly news column and has written many inspirational magazine stories promoting the same message and inspiring others to become a voice for the voiceless.

Currently Denise is working on transforming her book "Tony's Tale, Tragedy in Arizona" into a documentary of the same title. 

Denise lives in Orlando and spends her time writing, speaking, and volunteering at various animal shelters. 


Denise Carey-Costa was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She attended the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School where she studied theater and dance. After winning a theater scholarship she continued her studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo where she majored in theater and dance as well as English Literature.
